The House of Homeless People - Markot 3

 

The House can accommodate 70 persons in rooms for two, three or four. Until 2005 the House was only a dwelling-house for homeless. In 2005, however, the following two new programs have started together with the social administration of the city of Warsaw:

1. The residential rehabilitation center for people with psychic disorders There are 10 places for homeless with psychic disorders who don't need to be hospitalized. These persons are assured social welfare, medical care (psychologist, psychiatric nurse) and care of volunteers. A new therapeutic hall is part of the facilities of the center. 2. The residential rehabilitation center for homeless having finished the basic abuse therapy The center can accommodate 35 persons who have finished the basic therapy. There are two conditions which have to be met in order to enter the center: First, the person has to have completed the basic abuse therapy; second, the person has to take a job. The stay in the residential center lasts half a year. The programme at the center offers: Psychological help, support from a peer group, meetings with Anonymous Alcoholics, social support (for example help to find a job), and access to the Internet.

Besides these two programmes, The House of Homeless People - Markot 3 also has 25 places for homeless who are not able to work and to live an independent life. These persons do different kinds of service jobs at the Center for Humanitarian Aid. This work can help other homeless to find a job and to return to a normal life.
