The Hospital of the Monar Association

 

Since 1995 the Hospital has worked as an independent health care institution, and it continuously provides medical help for hundreds of homeless and addicted and people threatened with homelessness. It receives patients from all over Poland regardless of sex, place of living and material status. Currently the Hospital holds 27 beds for stationary medical help including four beds destined for detoxification of alcohol addicted patients.

Next to the hospital there is an outpatient department and a dentist's office that provides help for everybody who applies for help, mainly patients without a health insurance.

The Hospital of Monar cooperates with hospitals in Warsaw from which it receives patients without a health insurance who requires further hospitalization. Apart from medical care the patients have access to professional social help (like reconstruction of documents, help in arranging official affairs and receiving benefits) and legal advice.

An institution like this, working at a country scale, is unique and its functioning is possible mainly thanks to the work of voluntaries and grants and donations from private individuals and institutions.

After 10 years of activity, the buildings of the Hospital requires a general renovation and the medical equipment, hospital furniture, bedding, nightclothes, towels etc. need to be renewed.

The dream of the administration and patients is to buy a modern ambulance which makes it possible within a short time to reach people who need help (mainly in the winter season) and help them in a professional way. To fulfill this dream, the people attached to the Hospital of Monar need the support from volunteers. First of all from doctors and nurses with various specializations, but in general from everybody who are not indifferent to the fate of the sick, the handicapped and those devoid of hope.
